Communications on the Web
Welcome to the Future in Educational Communications between Teachers, Students and Families
One of the most pressing challenges to Instructional Technology Directors in today's information rich environment is finding a way to empower your classroom teachers to sponsor a website without learning any programming. Until now potential solutions have either required too steep of a learning curve, or were not capable of presenting the depth of content desired by teachers
Beginning in 2000 Steven Rush, working closely with the Instructional Technology leaders in the Curriculum and Instruction Department of the Tacoma Public School System, began developing eduBoards to be used to dramatically increase communications between Tacoma’s 3600 certificated and classified staff members, 35,000 students and their families.
Programmers, Systems Administrators, Graphic Artists, Teachers, Administrators, Instructional Technology Directors, Tech Liaisons, and scores of other technology and education professionals came together and formed an ad hoc team to develop, expand, improve and implement eduBoards
In January of 2003, we began familiarizing the Technical Liaisons in each of Tacoma’s 36 elementary schools, 11 middle schools, and 7 high schools with eduBoards. Feedback has been extraordinarily positive from everyone involved.
Easy to Use
The Technical Liaisons returned to their schools and organized voluntary meetings with their teachers to give them an introduction to establishing their own eduBoards, and the concept began to expand rapidly throughout the district. One surprising aspect has been the flexibility offered by the product. Several departments who have managed web pages I the past have elected to use eduBoards instead!
The one comment we hear over and over at each eduBoards introductory meeting is how easy it is to use. Teachers who have considered themselves computer illiterate in the past now boast with provide about their eduBoards.
We are now ready to begin developing eduBoards installations for other school districts in the English-speaking world.
Help Overcome Budget Cuts
In the current budget climate we are seeing most school districts across the United States experiencing major budget cutbacks. The crises often mean an increase in classroom size and a decrease in services in many other areas. EduBoards offers a very inexpensive way for your district to empower the families of your students to become appreciably more involved in their students’ educational experience, thus rolling- back much of the detrimental impact caused by the budget cuts. Can your district afford to not do everything within their power to help empower families to get involved? Give us a call today.
